SCCM-Mianyang Arts College is located in
Mianyang City, the second-largest Municipality in Sichuan Province,
SW China, known across the nation as “the Sci-Tech City”. Resting on
a hill and overlooking the Sanjiang Lake, it enjoys a fresh and
gracious environment. Its campus is 47 hectares in area,
with 100,000 sq m of built space to date. Each discipline has
relatively complete infrastructure and learning equipment.
Since its establishment in 2001, seven Departments have been set
up, namely: Visual Communication, Industrial Design, Media Art, Fine
Arts, Screen Arts, Music, and Arts & Letters.
They serve 15
Major courses aiming for some 60 career paths. The teaching staff
are an excellent team with broad and deep knowledge, including
senior Visiting & resident Professors & a good balance of
experienced and young teachers.
The College draws on the advanced experience of similar schools
of higher education, both in China and overseas. We actively explore
practice-driven, application-oriented approaches to Arts Education,
and have acquired our own clearly definable character, while also
growing co-operative arrangements with well-known Arts Schools in
the United States, Britain, New Zealand and other countries. We aim
to produce artists with comprehensive skills and an international
appreciation of their field.
In our curriculum we strive to link Art with Technology, and the
classroom with the marketplace. We stress the need to develop
students’ ability to use their hands, their brains and their
creativity, seeking a pathway of creative innovation in arts
training that meets the needs of China’s economy and social
development.
In 2006, the College was approved by the Chinese Ministry of
Education as an Independent Tertiary Institution. From 2007,
therefore, we have been able to independently enrol students from
all over China. On Graduation, our students’ Degrees are conferred
by CYMAC and validated by the Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
We are a youthful, lively new type of university full of
potential,. “like young birds trying their voice, fresh buds about
to bloom”. We will join with all those who care about and support
our College, to create an even better future..
